Oh Strawberry
Some of my earliest memories of the start of summer break was picking strawberries with my Grandmother. She would load up about 6 or 8 grandkids and away we would go for a day of picking. The cooler was packed with cold drinks and sandwiches on homemade bread for everyone. We would then come home with what seemed like enough berries for the entire community.
As Canada Day in Sharbot Lake was a little different this year, our family decided to start our day in the berry patch. Continuing the tradition we were fortunate to have 3 generations picking, bringing home a total of 52 liters of fresh strawberries. Yum… Fresh strawberry shortcake, strawberry jam, and freezing for smoothies.
